Central City Concern's Meridian Gardens development brings 85 new recovery-oriented affordable homes to Powellhurst-Gilbert, adjacent to their Cedar Commons and Crescent Court developments.

On October 22nd, PHB had the pleasure of joining Home Forwardand the Urban League of Portlandto celebrate the grand opening of the rehabilitated Fairfield Apartments, a 75-unit Permanent Supportive Housing project with studios and Single Room Occupancy units (SROs) for individuals exiting homelessness. The redevelopment was designed by Peter Meijer Architect and Walsh Construction Co.served as general contractor.
Formerly homeless residents at the Fairfield will be offered culturally-specific, intensive support services, helping them connect with community, workforce, and job training opportunities, as well as behavioral and physical healthcare, and deeply subsidized rents.
The Urban League has outfitted each apartment with basic goods and furniture, such as a bed, dresser, storage, cooking and kitchen goods, so that they can immediately settle into their new homes and start down the path to stability and independence.
PHB received $2 million in Congressional Direct Spending to support the Fairfield, thanks in large part to the efforts of Representative Suzanne Bonamici, as well as Senator Jeff Merkley, Senator Ron Wyden, and Representative Earl Blumenauer. PHB has exceeded City Council's goal to develop 2000 units of PSH by 2028, with 2312 now open or in progress.
Supportive services are funded by the MetroSHS measure, passed by the voters in 2020, and overseen by the Joint Office of Homeless Services. Prosper Portlandwill own and operate ground floor retail space.
