Paving, Roadway Repair Planned at Night Next Week on Interstate 76 (Schuylkill Expressway) in Philadelphia

Philadelphia, PA - The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that paving and roadway repair operations will occur at night on I-76 (Schuylkill Expressway) in Philadelphia under a $37.9 million project to resurface and repair nearly five miles of the interstate, the associated on-and-off ramps, and more than 20 bridges.

Motorists are advised of the following travel restrictions:

• Monday, October 21, and Tuesday, October 22, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, the ramp from westbound I-76 (Schuylkill Expressway) to Girard Avenue will be closed and detoured for paving. Motorists will be directed to continue on westbound I-76 (Schuylkill Expressway), exit at Montgomery Drive and use the ramp to eastbound I-76 to access Girard Avenue.
• Monday, October 21, and Tuesday, October 22, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, the ramp from Spring Garden Street to westbound I-76 (Schuylkill Expressway) will be closed and detoured for paving. Motorists will be directed to follow the posted detour route to access westbound I-76 (Schuylkill Expressway).
• Monday, October 21, through Thursday, October 25, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, a lane closure will be in place on sections of eastbound and westbound I-76 (Schuylkill Expressway) between the Montgomery Drive and 30^th Street Station interchanges for paving and concrete roadway repair.
  

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
