We Energies will be performing a 20-hour shutdown of the downtown steam service beginning at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 3, to replace a broken part. This will affect most buildings west of 11th Street.

This outage will impact hot water heating, including domestic hot water to sinks, dishwashers, laundry and humidifiers. The majority of the outing involves gradual opening of the steam valves, which will return systems back to normal steam pressure.

Buildings that WILL NOT be affected include:

  • 1700 W. Wells St.
  • Campus Town East
  • Campus Town West
  • Child Care Center
  • Frenn Apartment Building
  • Gilman Apartments
  • Mashuda Hall
  • O'Donnell Hall
  • Parking Structure 1
  • Parking Structure 2
  • Sigma Phi
  • Straz Tower
  • Triangle Fraternity
  • Valley Fields gatehouse/soccer pavilion
