City Invites Review of Final Draft Prohousing App

The City of Woodland invites questions and comments on its final draft Prohousing Designation Program Application.

What is the Prohousing Designation Program?

The California Department of Housing and Community Development's Prohousing Designation Program creates incentives for jurisdictions that are compliant with State Housing Element Law and that have enacted Prohousing Policies. Jurisdictions determined to be "Prohousing" will receive additional points or other preference during the scoring of competitive applications for specified housing and infrastructure funding from the State of California.

Why is the City of Woodland applying?

Since adoption of Woodland's updated Comprehensive Zoning Code, staff members believe that the City will be a competitive applicant and identified this opportunity to better position Woodland for future funding and programming. The application does not require an ordinance or policy change; rather, it requires the City to articulate many of the policies that Woodland has already adopted.

What action has already been taken?

On July 16, 2024, City Council approved Resolution No. 8363 authorizing staff to proceed with the Prohousing Designation Program application. The final draft application is now available for public review until December 6, 2024.

How can I review the draft application?
