Future Court Hearing Calendars

Tuesday, September 10, 2024

Self-scheduling calendars through January 2025 are found here. Beginning in October, the calendars include hearing dates for Judge L. Jefferson Davis, IV. It is anticipated that certain cases will be reassigned to Judge Davis mid-October along with the assignment of new cases, primarily in the Charleston division. Until those events occur, hearings for Charleston division cases should be self-scheduled for a date, time, and location that matches the division, chapter, and hearing type for the case regardless of judge assignment.
The Court anticipates each judge will preside over most cases in their respective assigned divisions (Burris - Greenville, Gasparini - Columbia, Davis - Charleston), except as follows:
• conflict cases;
• a more random assignment of all chapter 11 cases;
• Trustee Mathews Chapter 13 cases will continue to be assigned to Judge Burris; and
• Trustee Simmons-Beasley/Trustee Hardesty cases will continue to be assigned to Judge Gasparini.
As an accommodation to the public, members of the bar, and court staff, calendars from October forward reflect a weekly pattern that repeats every four weeks (except at the end of December) and are designed for predictability with future scheduling. While the judges will attempt to avoid scheduling hearings during the "open" days/weeks, there will be instances when hearings or trials must be scheduled on those days. If that occurs, the Court will attempt to consult the parties beforehand.
The Court will post additional calendars for 2025 soon and it is expected that future calendars will follow the same pattern as set forth above, with one week of no court scheduled every four weeks.
