Warning: weather impacting beaches

Warning: weather impacting beaches

Published on 31 July 2024

MidCoast beaches in the Old Bar and Jimmys Beach areas are closed due to large waves, storm surges and elevated sea levels.

Due to current weather conditions the coastal areas are experiencing excess erosion, inundation and instability resulting in a number of closures until further notice.

More closures could follow including roads with authorities expecting high seas overnight.

Of particular concern is Jimmys Beach, Old Bar and Manning Point due to the direction of the swells.

MidCoast Council staff will closely monitor these vulnerable areas including the Boulevarde at Hawks Nest. The Boulevarde is already closed to traffic due to erosion from Tuesday night.

With more high tides and strong seas expected overnight MidCoast Council urges residents and visitors to stay away from these hotspots and to enact caution around any of the region's coastal areas as weather conditions can change fast.
