West Nyle Virus Notice

Due to positive West Nile Virus (WNV) samples found in the area, mosquito spraying is scheduled as follows:

Spraying Schedule:

  • Tuesday, July 2: 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM
  • Wednesday, July 3: 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM

Spray Areas:

  • Specific locations will not be sprayed.
  • The majority of the traps tested negative, but proactive measures are being taken to ensure community safety.

Protect Yourself from Mosquitoes:

  • Use Insect Repellent: Apply EPA-registered repellent on exposed skin and clothing.
  • Wear Long Sleeves and Pants: Especially during dawn and dusk when mosquitoes are most active.
  • Use Screens: Ensure windows and doors have screens to keep mosquitoes out.
  • Eliminate Standing Water: Remove any standing water around your home where mosquitoes can breed.
  • Keep Mosquitoes Out: Use air conditioning or ensure that doors and windows are tightly closed.

What is the City Doing?

  • Monitoring and Testing: Continuous monitoring of mosquito populations and WNV testing.
  • Public Awareness: Informing residents about preventive measures.
  • Eliminating Breeding Sites: Removing standing water in public areas.
  • Community Support: Encouraging residents to report potential breeding sites.
