Arctic Slope Telephone Association Cooperative, Inc.
Subject to AS 38.05.850, the Northern Regional Land Office has received an application for the following:
APPLICANT: Arctic Slope Telephone Association Cooperative, Inc.
PROJECT NAME: ADL 422366
GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION: Departing north from the Dalton Highway near mile post 285 and traveling west southwest for approximately 90 miles to Anaktuvuk Pass. The route generally follows the North Slope Borough Community Winter Access Trail.
LEGAL DESCRIPTION: The route crosses 60 sections that are managed by DMLW. A complete list is attached.
REQUESTED ACTIVITY: ASTAC has requested a public utility easement for the installation and maintenance of fiber optic cable (FOC) from the Dalton Hwy to Anaktuvuk Pass. The plan is to lay the FOC across the tundra, in the winter, rather than in a trench.
REQUESTED TERM: In perpetuity
DEADLINE FOR COMMENTS: August 19, 2024
The public is invited to comment on this activity. The purpose of this notice is to gather input before a decision is made on this activity. To ensure consideration, written comments must be received by the Division of Mining, Land and Water at 3700 Airport Way, Fairbanks, AK 99709 on or before 5:00 p.m. on the date noted above. After review and adjudication, we may issue an authorization with stipulations for the activity. The activity may be modified during the review and adjudication process.
