D.A. Bragg Announces Indictment Of Man For Fatal Shooting In Harlem

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin L. Bragg Jr. today announced the indictment of DARLIN MARTINEZ, 27, for a fatal shooting in Harlem in January 2020. MARTINEZ is charged in a New York State Supreme Court indictment with one count of Murder in the Second Degree, one count of Assault in the First Degree, two counts of Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, among other charges. "As alleged, Darlin Martinez used a gun to shoot three people, killing Christopher Allen and injuring two others. My Office is actively working to keep New Yorkers safe through both prosecutions of drivers of violence and meaningful investments in our communities," said District Attorney Bragg. "I thank the NYPD for apprehending Darlin Martinez after this four-year search. My thoughts are with Mr. Allen's four children and loved ones as they continue to mourn his loss."

According to court documents and statements made on the record in court, on January 23, 2020, at approximately 1:53 p.m., MARTINEZ allegedly fired a loaded gun at multiple individuals outside of 606 West 135th Street, striking three people.

Christopher Allen was pronounced dead from multiple gunshot wounds. The second victim sustained one gunshot wound to the chest and one gunshot wound to the shoulder and the third victim sustained a gunshot wound to the buttocks.

Assistant D.A. Shanda Strain (Trial Bureau 30) is handling the prosecution of this case under the supervision of Assistant D.A. Erin Tierney (Bureau Chief of Trial Bureau 30) and Executive Assistant D.A. Lisa DelPizzo (Chief of the Trial Division).

D.A. Bragg thanked the NYPD, particularly Detective Alexande Gil of the 30th Precinct Detective Squad.
