CRISPR Technologies Conference Will Explore Genome Editing Breakthroughs, October 14–16, San Diego, CA

Bioengineers, scientists, and researchers interested in genome editing and the game-changing prospects afforded by CRISPR-based systems will share the latest intelligence in the field at the 7th International Conference on CRISPR Technologies, taking place October 14-16, 2024, at the Bahia Resort Hotel in San Diego, California.

Organized by the Society for Biological Engineering (SBE) - a technical community of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) - the CRISPR conference unites the field's innovators and thought leaders, who will deliver academic and commercial perspectives on CRISPR-based techniques, highlighting the potential of genome engineering for applications in biotechnology, agriculture, biomedicine, and other fields.

Conference presentations will be delivered by eminent people in the field, and include a keynote address by George Church, Professor of Genetics at Harvard Medical School and a Director of a U.S. Department of Energy Technology Center and a National Institutes of Health Center of Excellence in Genomic Science. Church developed the first methods for direct genome sequencing, molecular multiplexing, and barcoding - with his innovations contributing to nearly all "next generation" DNA sequencing methods. This, along with his work on chip-DNA-synthesis, gene editing, and stem cell engineering, have set the foundation for companies spanning medical diagnostics and synthetic biology.

Additional keynote speakers at the 2024 CRISPR Conference include Waseem Qasim, Professor of Cell and Gene Therapy at London's Institute of Child Health; and Stanley Qi, Associate Professor in the Department of Bioengineering and the Department of Chemical and Systems Biology at Stanford University.

Over the past decade, CRISPR approaches- which involve cellular-level editing and manipulation of the genome - have permitted biotechnicians to modify DNA, genes, and the development of cells, with implications for medicine, agriculture, and other areas. Topics at the CRISPR conference cover the breadth of current research, and will be elaborated in sessions devoted to CRISPR biotechnology, genome editing tools (including artificial intelligence), commercial translation of gene editing, CRISPR-Cas biology, microbiome editing, safety in genome editing, clinical and biomedical applications of CRISPR, and more.
