Andrews FCU Volunteer Elijah Roberts Named to Defense CU Hall of Honor

Andrews Federal Credit Union recently announced that volunteer Elijah "Bennie" Roberts has been named to the Defense Credit Union Council (DCUC) Hall of Honor.

This honor recognizes individuals in the credit union movement who have made significant contributions to both their respective credit union and the Defense Credit Union industry as a whole.

Roberts has contributed more than 32 years of volunteer service to the Andrews Federal Credit Union Board of Directors. He currently serves Andrews Federal as a Director Emeritus and continues to provide guidance and support for credit union initiatives. As a longstanding board member, Roberts played a key role in strategic planning, policy development, and expansion into international markets. During his tenure of service on the Board, the credit union grew from $432 million to $2.5 billion in assets.

According to Andrews Federal Credit Union leadership, Roberts's dedication has been integral to the institution's ongoing success. "Andrews Federal has a strong group of Board volunteers who provide knowledgeable guidance and expertise to our institution," said Andrews Federal President and CEO Ken Orgeron. "We are fortunate that our Board includes leaders who have ably served our country. Leaders like Mr. Roberts bring both professional expertise and personal experience to their roles, empowering us to continue our strong support for our military and civilian members."

In addition to his volunteer service to Andrews Federal, Roberts has built an Air Force career as an expert in logistics. He served 33 years in the Air Force and currently works in a civilian role as a Senior Analyst in the Directorate of Logistics, Deputy Chief of Staff, Logistics, Engineering, and Force Protection at the Pentagon.

Roberts will be officially inducted into the DCUC Hall of Honor at the Hall of Honor Awards Dinner in St. Petersburg, Florida, on August 15, 2024.
