How Bill Skarsgård Created Nosferatu’s Voice in the New Movie

Bill Skarsgård's latest role as the title character in Robert Eggers' upcoming "Nosferatu" adaptation presented a unique challenge: crafting a voice that would fit the legendary vampire.

In an exclusive SiriusXM Town Hall with the cast and director of "Nosferatu," Bill shared an in-depth look at his meticulous process to develop the character's voice.

"I love voice work in general for every character," he explained to Radio Andy hosts Jess Cagle and Julia Cunningham. "I just think it's fun. It's just a part of acting that I'm really drawn towards, and I knew that with this one, it would be in particular very important because there's a lot of dialogue."

For Nosferatu's voice, this meant working with an opera singer, taking hundreds of recordings, playing with microphone distance, larynx massages, breathwork, vocal exercises, and even Mongolian throat singing.

Watch Bill explain his full creative process in the clip above, and stream the full "Nosferatu" Town Hall featuring Lily-Rose Depp, Willem Dafoe, Emma Corrin, Nicholas Hoult, and director Robert Eggers on the SiriusXM app now.

See "Nosferatu" in theaters beginning December 25, 2024.
