Free Flu Clinics on Oct. 24 & Nov. 14 in Woodland

As flu season approaches, the Yolo County Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA) encourages all residents to stay current with their vaccinations. To support this effort, HHSA will host free flu clinics throughout Yolo County this fall.

The clinics will provide residents with easy access to the influenza vaccine, which is recommended for everyone aged six months and older. Below is the schedule for the remaining clinics:

October 17, 2024
Time: 4:00 - 7:00 p.m.
Location: West Sacramento City Hall, 1110 W. Capitol Ave., West Sacramento

October 24, 2024
Time: 5:00 - 7:00 p.m.
Location: Mutual Housing at Spring Lake, 2170 Farmers Central Rd., Woodland

November 1, 2024
Time: 5:00 - 7:00 p.m.
Location: Knights Landing Resource Center, 9544 Mill St., Knights Landing

November 7, 2024
Time: 2:00 - 4:00 p.m.
Location: Davis Community Meals, 1111 H St., Davis

November 14, 2024
Time: 4:00 - 7:00 p.m.
Location: Woodland High School, 21 N. West St., Woodland

Dr. Aimee Sisson, Yolo County's Public Health Officer, emphasized the value of these free clinics by stating, "Vaccines play a key role in reducing severe illness, hospitalization, and death. I strongly recommend that everyone in Yolo County who is 6 months old and older get a flu shot every year. Now is a great time to get a flu vaccine before flu season begins in November."

While these clinics focus on making flu vaccinations available to people without insurance and do not offer other vaccines, residents are also encouraged to consider RSV and COVID-19 vaccinations heading into winter. An updated '24-'25 COVID-19 vaccine is recommended for everyone 6 months and older. In addition, the CDC recommends a single dose of the RSV vaccine for infants younger than 8 months, high risk infants and toddlers up to 18 months, people who are 32-36 weeks pregnant, adults aged 75 and older, and for adults aged 60-74 with increased risk of severe RSV disease.

In addition to the county-run flu clinics, residents can obtain flu and other vaccines through their healthcare providers and local pharmacies.
