New Haven Judicial District State's Attorney John P. Doyle, Jr. Statement on the Death of Department of Transportation Employee Andrew DiDomenico

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(New Haven, CT) - The New Haven State's Attorney's Office will await the conclusion of a Connecticut State Police investigation before deciding on whether to file any potential additional criminal charges against the defendant arrested in connection with the June 28, 2024 death of Department of Transportation Employee Andrew DiDomenico, who was tragically killed while working on the Wharton Brook Connector in Wallingford.

Denise Lucibello, age 55, of East Haven, appeared today in Meriden Superior Court to face charges of Misconduct with a Motor Vehicle, Driving Under the Influence, Illegal Operation of a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended License, Failure to Drive in Proper Lane, and Failure to Slow Down/Move Over for a Non-Emergency Vehicle in connection with the death of Mr. DiDomenico. At the hearing, the Honorable David L. Zagaja set bond at $500,000. The charges against the defendant are merely accusations and she is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

The Connecticut State Police and the Connecticut State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Squad (CARS), both of the Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection (DESPP), are continuing to investigate the fatality.

"The New Haven State's Attorney's Office will wait until Connecticut State Police have completed a thorough investigation before considering additional charges in the case," New Haven Judicial District State's Attorney John P. Doyle, Jr. said. "Today, I join with the entire Division of Criminal Justice and all state employees in expressing our deepest condolences to the family, friends and co-workers of Mr. DiDomenico. Please join us in support of his family and friends and all Department of Transportation employees at this difficult time."

Connecticut State Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or who may have dashboard camera footage, to contact Trooper Daniel McCue of Troop I at 203-393-4200 or by email at [email protected].
