2024 Flood Response

07.03.24
The Mississippi River is forecast to crest at 20 FT on Sunday, July 7. As we continue to implement the flood plan according to river rise, there are a few new items to update the community on.

  • The Compost Facility will be closed on Thursday, July 4, in observance of the holiday. It is expected to reopen on Friday, July 5, unless river levels change significantly. Then, due to river levels, the facility will be closed to the public beginning Saturday, July 6, through at least Tuesday, July 9, based on the forecast. An alternate drop-off location will not be staged at this time. Should river levels remain high, temporary closure may be extended, and a drop-off location may be established.
  • With portions of W River Dr beginning to become inundated by water, the flood detour has been updated with the closure of W River Dr at Hwy 22/Rockingham. Find the most current detour at this link.
    • Due to the loss of parking in the Downtown area, visitors are welcome to park in the Harrison St Ramp for free until river levels recede.
  • The Freight House will be closed beginning Friday, July 5.
  • The Freight House Farmers Market will be held at the Scott County Administrative Center, 600 W 4th St.
