Argall, Heffley Announce Funding to Increase High-Speed Internet Access in Jim Thorpe

HARRISBURG - The Dimmick Memorial Library in Jim Thorpe will receive 20 laptops through the Digital Connectivity Technology Program (DCTP), according to Sen. Dave Argall (R-29) and Rep. Doyle Heffley (R-122). This initiative, spearheaded by the Pennsylvania Broadband Development Authority, is designed to provide devices to communities where affordability has been identified as a barrier to the use of high-speed internet.

"High-speed internet is an absolute necessity in today's world," said Argall. "I'm grateful that these devices will support the mission of the Dimmick Memorial Library to make knowledge accessible to everyone."

"It's wonderful to see these laptops being awarded to the historic Dimmick Library," said Heffley. "The library staff consistently strives to create innovative and engaging opportunities for our children to learn, and I have no doubt these laptops will be a valuable resource."

The DCTP program, backed by $20 million in federal funding, supports community institutions, including libraries, schools, municipalities, workforce training organizations, and other non-profits. Eligible projects focus on providing devices that increase high-speed internet access while advancing digital literacy and skills training.

This latest round of awards is part of Pennsylvania's broader effort to ensure greater digital access across the Commonwealth, building stronger, connected communities for Pennsylvanians.
