New Brunswick Welcomes Back Rutgers University Students

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ (September 5, 2024) - The City's population is experiencing its annual expansion as thousands of Rutgers University students return to take up residence on the banks of the Raritan.

Cases of Keurig pods, shower caddies, clothes, gaming consoles, bedding, and the all-important instant Ramen Noodles were among the many items being brought into dorms as students participate in an annual rite of passage - Move-in Day.

Mayor Jim Cahill and other City officials recently joined Rutgers Honors College students for Move-In Day, assisting them with unpacking and settling into their dorms. Staff from various municipal departments, including the Mayor's Office, Recreation, Code Enforcement, Arts, Sister Cities, and Human and Community Services, participated in the effort.
