Director-General of the Department of American and South Pacific Affairs, and Ambassador of Thailand to Brazil hosted a working lunch

On 14 August 2024, Mr. Chettaphan Maksamphan, Director-General of the Department of American and South Pacific Affairs, and Mr. Saksee Phromyothi, Ambassador of Thailand to Brazil, together with a delegation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Thai private sector, under the Latin Link 2024 Project, hosted a working lunch with Mr. Eduardo Paes Saboia, Secretary of Asia and the Pacific, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Brazil and the representatives from the Brazilian Trade Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil) and Braskem company in Brasilia, Brazil.

The discussion focused on ways and opportunities to promote trade and investment between Thailand and Brazil, as well as multilateral issues, such as BRICS. Both sides were delighted with the progress of the joint venture between Thailand's Siam Cement Group Chemicals (SCGC) and the Brazilian company Braskem S.A. to establish a bio-polyethylene plant in Thailand. This collaboration will pave a way for Thailand to become the hub of green plastic production in the region.
