The European Mobility Week concluded yesterday with a traditional bicycle ride through the streets of Podgorica. The event was organised by the Capital City of Podgorica in collaboration with Biciklo.me, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Montenegro, and Europe House.

The 81st Critical Mass, organised by Biciklo.me in cooperation with Europe House, the Youth Office, and the Secretariat for Transport of the Capital City of Podgorica, commemorated World Car-Free Day on 22 September.

The 8.5-kilometre route took the riders through the Boulevard of Ivan Crnojević, 13th July Street, Dalmatinska Street, and Meša Selimović Street. The ride continued through the Boulevard of Mihailo Lalić and the Boulevard of George Washington. After crossing Krivi Most, the cyclist continued through Zabjelo and Stara Varoš, and finally returned to Independence Square at the end.

The Critical Mass ride has been organised by Biciklo.me for over a decade. The aim of this event is to promote bicycles as a sustainable and eco-friendly means of transport and to encourage citizens to increasingly opt for alternative modes of transportation.

The European Mobility Week is celebrated every year in September in cities across Europe and, as an initiative of the European Commission, seeks to promote sustainable, urban, and high-quality transport solutions.

In this regard, the Capital City of Podgorica, along with its partners, organised numerous events and activities this year to contribute to the affirmation and popularisation of sustainable, as well as alternative modes of transport in our city. Particular emphasis was placed on road safety, as well as educating the youngest citizens on these topics, and involving various community stakeholders in discussions dedicated to sustainable urban mobility.
