The 2024 hurricane season tested our community in extraordinary ways. Back-to-back hurricanes, Helene and Milton, brought challenges that were both historic and deeply personal. Hurricane Milton, in particular, made landfall as the most powerful storm to impact West Central Florida in over a century. On behalf of everyone at Tampa Electric, we thank you for your strength and resilience through the storms.
We know that many of you faced significant damage to your homes and businesses. Our hearts go out to everyone affected, and we are deeply grateful for your patience and resilience in the aftermath. Together, we will rebuild, recover, and emerge stronger as a community.
A Sincere Thank You
During the height of Hurricane Milton, over 600,000 customers experienced outages. In response, our dedicated team-along with more than 6,000 utility workers from across the U.S. and Canada-worked tirelessly to restore power. Thanks to their relentless efforts, nearly all outages were resolved within days.
This monumental effort would not have been possible without the incredible support of our community partners. From clearing roads to providing shelter and resources, their collaboration ensured we could respond efficiently and safely. A special thank you also goes to the visiting crews whose expertise and determination were vital to accelerating the restoration process.
Your understanding and encouragement throughout this time meant the world to us. It inspires us to work harder and smarter every day. We remain committed to serving you and building a stronger, more resilient future for our community.
