2 Seriously Injured In Multi-Vehicle Crash

WESTMORELAND, N.H. - Two people were taken to the hospital with serious injuries following a crash involving multiple vehicles in Westmoreland.

At 12:38 p.m. today, July 21, 2024, State Troopers from the Troop C barracks responded to Route 12 at River Rd N for a three-vehicle crash. Upon arrival, Troopers determined that a 2018 Toyota Sienna, being driven by Kim Carrier, 46, of Swanzey, had been traveling northbound when it struck a 1980 Fiat Spider, which was stopped in the northbound lane while its driver waited for traffic to pass to turn left onto River Rd N. The impact from the crash sent the Fiat into the southbound lane, where it was struck again by a 2002 Ford F-350 traveling southbound.

Carrier and a child passenger were uninjured during the crash. However, the driver of the Fiat, identified as Peter Friedrichs, 67, and his passenger, Irene Friedrichs, 73, both of Keene, were trapped in the vehicle with serious injuries. Responding firefighters used Jaws of Life to remove them.

Peter Friedrichs was transported by ambulance to Cheshire Medical Center in Keene with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Irene Friedrichs was taken by medical helicopter to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, Massachusetts as a precaution due to serious and unknown injuries.

The driver of the F-350, identified as Landon Lake, 19, of Walpole, New Hampshire, was not hurt during the crash.

Route 12 was closed for more than an hour during the investigation. The New Hampshire State Police was assisted at the scene by members of the Walpole, New Hampshire Police Department, the Westmoreland Fire & Rescue Department, Cheshire County EMS, and the New Hampshire Department of Transportation.
The crash remains under investigation. Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact Trooper Paul Bergeron at [email protected] or (603) 358-3333.
