MFA Spokesperson leads team to Bloomberg's Thailand Office to exchange views and learn about AI applications in the newsroom

On 3 September 2024, Mr. Nikorndej Balankura, Director-General of the Department of Information and Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, together with executives and staff of the Department, visited the Thailand Office of Bloomberg L.P. to exchange views and learn about AI applications in the newsroom. They were received by Mr. Lee Miller, Editor-in-Chief, Mr. Thomas Kutty Abraham, Bureau Chief, together with Bloomberg journalists, content creators and staff.

The delegation was briefed on Bloomberg's operations and key services, as one of the world's leading business media, and a major database provider for investment and business decision makers. Discussions also centered on the importance of big data, and the application of Automation and Artificial Intelligence systems to collect and organise information to serve customer needs, as well as using data and statistics for analysis, and the use of Sentiment Analysis to forecast trends and monitor opinion and views.

Bloomberg is a leading business media and economic data provider, with global audiences principally in the finance, stock markets and business sectors. Reflecting Thailand's regional economic standing, Bloomberg's Thailand Office is a key source on South East Asia Equities. This visit has contributed to enhancing the knowledge and experience of the Department's staff, particularly on effective communication, and countering disinformation and misinformation. Discussions were also had on opportunities for future cooperation in areas such as analysis of information and creative content. It also reflects the ongoing commitment of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to strengthen relations and cooperation with the media community.
