Netflix has announced today the release date and first images of 1992, the company's first miniseries by acclaimed director Álex de la Iglesia, and creator and screenwriter Jorge Guerricaechevarría, a two-time Goya Award winner(Cell 211, The Laws of the Border, Sister Death),which will premiere on Netflix onDecember 13.
The new thriller from the director of The Day of the Beastwill revolve around a series of mysterious murders that follow the same pattern: all the victims have been burned, and next to each body, a Curro doll-the iconic mascot of Seville's Expo '92-appears.
The miniseries, directed by Álex de la Iglesia, is a creation by him and Jorge Guerricaechevarría, based on a script by Pablo Tébar(Bandidos), and Jorge Valdano(Headless Chickens). It stars Fernando Valdivielso (Fanatic)and Marian Álvarez(The Wound, The Unit), with Paz Vega (Sex and Lucía) andCarlos Santos(The Man with a Thousand Faces)completing the cast, among others.
Filmed in Madrid and Seville, 1992is a Pokeepsie Filmsproduction for Netflix.
