2024 Flood Response

07.08.24
The Mississippi River at Lock and Dam 15 crested at 20.04 earlier this morning and is expected to hover around 20 FT through the week before gradually falling beginning on Friday, July 12. With this outlook, the current flood detour is expected to remain in place through the week, and the Davenport Compost Facility will need to relocate drop-off services temporarily. Our partners at the Scott County Emergency Management Agency, American Red Cross, and Salvation Army have also announced potable water support for residents impacted by flooding. Find details below.

  • The Davenport Compost Facility will temporarily relocate drop-off services to the Scott Area Landfill from Tuesday, July 9, through Saturday, July 13. The facility is expected to reopen at its 2707 Railroad St location on Sunday, July 14, at 7:30 a.m.
    • The landfill is located at 11555 110th Ave, Davenport, IA.
    • Hours for drop-off will be Tuesday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and Saturday, 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
    • Individuals dropping off yard waste will be directed to where to place yard waste at the landfill for later composting.
    • No compost products will be available for purchase until the Compost Facility can be re-opened.
  • The American Red Cross and Salvation Army are supporting residents currently impacted by flooding who lack access to clean, potable water. Water distribution will begin Monday, July 8, and will continue every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 3 p.m. - 5 p.m. through July 26. Davenport residents can pick up water from the Westside Assembly Church, 3908 W. River Drive, Davenport.
