UToledo Celebrates Muslim Heritage Month With Events Through October

In celebration of Muslim Heritage Month this October, the Office of Multicultural Student Success (OMSS) and the Muslim Students Association (MSA) have organized a variety of events throughout the month to promote education, cultural awareness and community engagement.

The festivities will include engaging discussions, cultural experiences and charity-focused initiatives, starting with the popular "Ask a Muslim" event on Tuesday, Oct. 1, at noon in Thompson Student Union.

In celebration of Muslim Heritage Month, the Office of Multicultural Student Success and the Muslim Students Association have organized a variety of events throughout October to promote education, cultural awareness and community engagement.

New Event Highlight: Culture Night

This year, MSA is excited to introduce Culture Night as part of the month's celebrations. Scheduled for Friday, Oct. 11, at 5 p.m. in the Ingman Room of Thompson Student Union, Culture Night will showcase delicious foods from various cultures, fun games and a unique opportunity to try on traditional clothing.

All proceeds from Culture Night will support Charity Week, a national initiative raising funds for relief efforts benefiting children around the world. Admission to the event is free, but donations are encouraged to support this important cause.

Other campus events and activities planned for Muslim Heritage Month include:

• Friday, Oct. 4, at 5 p.m. - Islamic Lecture (Halaqa) in Thompson Student Union Room 3018. An educational and informational discussion about Islam to help raise awareness about the faith and its principles

• Tuesday, Oct. 29 at 12:00 p.m. - Charity Week Tabling. In Thompson Student Union Table A, where MSA will be selling delicious treats for a great cause.

• Tuesday, Oct. 29 at 3:30 p.m. - Muslim Heritage Month Celebration in Thompson Student Union Room 2592. A celebration of Muslim heritage and culture through henna and foods from Islamic cultures.
