Man Charged for Sexually Abusing a Family Member

December 9, 2024, Peoria, IL - Over the weekend, Corey M. Wofford III, 25, was charged with Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault for sexually abusing a family member under the age of 13 over the past two years. Today, a detention hearing was held, and the State's Petition to Detain was granted, meaning he will remain in custody until trial.

Around midnight on November 27, police were dispatched to OSF Hospital for a reported sexual assault. At the hospital, the child tested positive for chlamydia. A forensic interview was done with the child at the Children's Advocacy Center on December 5. The child told detectives Wofford would perform sex acts on her and have her perform sex acts on him. Wofford was arrested on December 5. More charges could be filed when the case proceeds to the grand jury.
