Metro to Honor Active, Reserve, and Retired Military Members with Free Rides on Veterans Day

Metro continues support of Veterans with free rides on November 11.

Cincinnati -
Metro is continuing its tradition of honoring Veterans Day by offering fare-free rides on Metro's fixed-route and Access paratransit services for veterans and active- or reserve-duty military members, including the National Guard and Reserves, on Monday, Nov. 11.

"Veterans Day is an important occasion for us to express our deep appreciation for the brave men and women who have served our country," said Brandy Jones, Metro's Chief Communications & Marketing Officer. "By providing fare-free rides, we hope to make it more convenient for veterans and military members to engage in activities that honor their service and connect with their communities."

To ride free on Veterans Day, active, reserve and retired military members must show valid proof of military or veteran status upon boarding the bus, including:

  • U.S. Department of Defense-issued military ID card
  • Veterans Affairs ID card
  • State-issued driver's license with veteran designation
  • Metro MVP Card
Metro Veterans Program (MVP)Metro is committed to supporting veterans by removing transportation barriers all year long. Through the Metro Veterans Program (MVP), approved veterans and active-duty personnel receive half-price fares. Additionally, a partnership announced earlier this year with the Hamilton County Veterans Service Commission offers free rides to VA medical appointments on all fixed-route buses for card holders. These initiatives highlight Metro's dedication to ensuring veterans have access to essential transportation. Learn more on Metro's website.

Metro will operate on its normal weekday schedule on Veterans Day.
