Man Arrested For Job Scam

The Police have arrested a 39-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of job scam.

On 7 July 2024, the Police received a report from a victim who had allegedly fallen prey to a job scam perpetrated by the man. The victim transferred a total of S$600 to the man, who promised to secure him job opportunities in Singapore. After receiving the money, the man did not secure any job or had any job offers for the victim.

Through follow up investigations, officers from Woodlands Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him on 24 July 2024.

The man will be charged in court on 26 July 2024 with the offence of Cheating under Section 420 of the Penal Code 1871. The offence of cheating carries an imprisonment term of up to 10 years and a fine.

The Police take a serious stance against any person who may be involved in scams, and perpetrators will be dealt with in accordance with the law. To avoid being an accomplice to crimes, members of the public should always reject requests by others to use your bank account or mobile lines as you will be held accountable if these are linked to crimes.
