Arlington, VA - The U.S. Trade and Development Agency will bring a delegation of senior Vietnamese power sector officials to the United States to advance Vietnam's efforts to incorporate smart grid technology and strengthen cybersecurity for its power sector.

The 14-member reverse trade mission delegation will travel to Washington, DC, Chicago and Silicon Valley from September 7-19 to meet U.S. companies and see demonstrations of cutting-edge U.S. technologies. The delegation will also meet government counterparts to share best practices in implementation and academic institutions to hear about the latest in technological developments.

On September 11, USTDA will host a public business briefing in Washington where U.S. companies can learn about upcoming commercial opportunities and meet one-on-one with the delegates to present their innovative solutions in grid cybersecurity, renewable energy integration, enhanced resilience, and smart grid deployments. The U.S. private sector is a leader in cyber security technologies and best practices that are applicable to Vietnam. Vietnam's smart grid market is expected to see substantial growth over the next six years, as its government plans to invest more than $120 billion into the energy sector by 2030, including in cybersecurity, to ensure the electricity network's sustainability and reliability.

The reverse trade mission supports the U.S. government's Partnership for Global Infrastructure and Investment to deliver game-changing projects to close the infrastructure gap in developing countries, USTDA's Global Partnership for Climate-Smart Infrastructure that connects U.S. industry to major clean energy and transportation infrastructure projects in emerging economies and the Indo-Pacific Strategy.
