Public Invited to Hiring Event for CDL Operators, Diesel Equipment Mechanics in Dauphin County

Harrisburg, PA - The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that it will host a hiring event for job seekers to learn about winter temporary and permanent CDL operator (starting pay is $22.49/hr.) and diesel equipment mechanic positions (starting pay is $27.75/hr.) the department offers in Dauphin County.
The event will be held from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM Wednesday, July 24, at the offices of PennDOT Engineering District 8, 2140 Herr Street, Harrisburg PA 17013. Enter the building at the visitor entrance next to the parking lot. For more information, please call 717-787-5391.
Staff will be available to discuss current and future openings within the commonwealth for CDL operators, who must have a valid Pennsylvania (PA) CDL Class A or B with air brake restriction removed, and diesel equipment mechanics, who must have a valid CDL and a PA Class 7 inspector mechanic certification. Both positions also require a current medical examiner certificate.
On-the-spot applications, interviews, and driving skills testing will take place. Applicants need to bring their current CDL license and medical examiners card.
Applicants are encouraged to create an account with employment.pa.gov prior to the event. Laptops and staff will be available to help interested participants navigate the electronic application system. Human Resources staff will be on-hand to discuss benefit options and opportunities for permanent employment.
