Levine returned to Toledo in 2020 when he was was named the Edward Drummond and Florence Scott Libbey President, Director and CEO of the Toledo Museum of Art. He is the 11th director of the museum since it was founded in 1901.

"It is an honor to serve on the Board of The University of Toledo," Levine said. "The University, like the Museum, is vital to the fabric and future of this community, and I look forward to expanding my service to our region from art education to higher education."

Levine has been with the Toledo museum for 10 years, having held various leadership roles during his tenure. He originally joined the museum in 2012 as an Andrew W. Mellon Foundation Fellow, a two-year post-doctoral program designed to prepare the next generation of museum leaders. He went on to serve in increasingly senior management roles including head of visitor engagement, assistant director, associate director and then deputy director and curator of ancient art.

As Director and CEO, Levine navigated TMA through the COVID pandemic and developed innovative strategies that helped grow the Museum's operating budget from approximately $15 million to $23 million, increase its endowment from $180 million to $266 million, build a culture that resulted in TMA's nomination as a "Top Place to Work" in the region and bolster the Museum's curatorial program.

From 2018 to 2020 Levine served as the George W. and Kathleen I. Gibbs Director and CEO of the Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens in Jacksonville, Florida where he oversaw numerous strategic initiatives, including the reconstruction of its historic gardens, expansion of its educational offerings, and the implementation of membership and audience development programs that increased visitation by 20%.

Levine is a graduate of Dartmouth College where he earned degrees in anthropology, art history, mathematics and social sciences. He continued his studies as a Rhodes Scholar at the University of Oxford where he earned a master's degree and doctorate in the history of art.

An entrepreneur, Levine combined his interests in mathematics and art to co-found in 2009 Art Research Technologies, a data and research company that was successfully sold to a London-based investment fund. Levine has founded two other companies, including the Center for Visual Expertise, and he advises several others. He also has broad consulting experience for universities, museums, think tanks and auction houses.
