Made in America Holiday Gift Guide Makes Shopping Effortless
For Immediate Release: November 20, 2024
Washington, D.C. - The vast majority of Americans (77%) prefer to buy Made in America holiday gifts, new polling released in conjunction with The 2024 Made in America Holiday Gift Guide finds. However, one in five purchases (21%) is expected to be made through SHEIN, Temu, TikTok, and other Chinese shopping apps this holiday season.
Despite strong consumer preference, online retailers are not required to provide country-of-origin labeling as their brick-and-mortar counterparts are. This lack of transparency disadvantages American manufacturers in a market teeming with imports that may not be ethically made.
MADE IN AMERICA HOLIDAY SHOPPING SIMPLIFIED:
The 2024 Made in America Holiday Gift Guide spotlights 112 manufacturers and makers from across all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico. Shoppers can browse products by state or category, for everything from playhouses to eyewear.
KEY POLL FINDINGS:
"Unfortunately, finding Made in America products can be challenging for too many Americans. As SHEIN and Temu attempt to seize more of American consumers' valuable holiday shopping dollars, these opaque marketplaces make it needlessly difficult for consumers to find the American-made goods they want," Alliance for American Manufacturing (AAM) President Scott Paul said. "The 2024 Made in America Holiday Gift Guide changes that by making it effortless to shop ethically and locally."
"America's manufacturers and makers are the beating heart of our nation's economy and communities," Paul said. "We know that American shoppers want to support them with their purchases this holiday season. More retailers should wake up to this demand and sell Made in America shopping options more widely and more prominently."
Interviews with local manufacturers and makers as well as Made in America shopping experts are available upon request.
