Greeley Fire Department Responds to Structure Fire at JBS Swift & Co.

GREELEY, Colo. - The Greeley Fire Department (GFD) was called to JBS Swift & Co., located at 800 N 8th Avenue, at approximately 3:30 a.m. this morning in response to a commercial fire alarm. Upon arrival, it was confirmed that the situation involved a working structure fire in a cold storage building, prompting a second alarm. At approximately 4 a.m., 11 GFD units responded along with one unit from the Eaton Fire Protection District.

The combined efforts of the responding units brought the fire under control around 5:30 a.m. Currently, crews remain on the scene, working to extinguish hot spots and ensure the structure is safe. All personnel were evacuated from the facility.

Fire investigators have arrived and are in the early stages of their investigation to determine the cause of the fire. The origin of the fire remains unknown at this time.

Fire departments from Platte Valley Fire Protection District and Windsor Severance Fire Rescue were called in to cover calls during the incident as backfill support.

"We are grateful for the swift response and coordination between our neighboring fire departments. The actions of our firefighters allowed for a quick resolution to this structure fire," said Chief Brian Kuznik. "Our primary focus now is on determining the cause of this incident."
