Tropical Storm Debby currently stretches from eastern Cuba to the Florida Keys. The National Hurricane Center predicts it will be a hurricane when it makes landfall.

The following is the National Weather Service Jacksonville's current forecast for TS Debby's impacts on Alachua County. Due to the dynamic nature of this system, this forecast is subject to change.

We may see an increase in localized flooding due to recent heavy rainfall. Currently, Alachua County is forecast to receive 5-8 inches of rain between Sunday and Monday (see details below). Winds and rains adding to the already saturated conditions, could lead to an increase in downed trees and power outages across our area.

Predicted Rainfall
Sunday afternoon - 1 to 2 inches
Sunday night - an additional 2 to 3 inches
Monday - an additional 2 to 3 inches

Predicted Winds
Sunday 20 to 30 mph with gusts of 40 mph.
Strongest winds expected late Sunday night into early Monday morning.

Based on the current forecast, Alachua County residents and visitors should complete all storm preparations by no later than mid-afternoon Sunday.
