Silent auction and raffle hosted by SOAD, Scholes Library to raise funds in support of western NC artists, craftspeople

ALFRED, NY - Alfred University's Scholes Library and the School of Art and Design, New York State College of Ceramics, will host a silent auction and raffle Oct. 24-25 to raise funds in support of artists and craftspeople in western North Carolina, which was devastated by Hurricane Helene.

This area of North Carolina has deep ties to craft traditions that have inspired many within Alfred University's School of Art and Design. Additionally, AU artists, faculty, alumni, and students have contributed their own energies and talents to the vibrant arts communities of the North Carolina Appalachians. The fundraising event provides an opportunity to lend support to western North Carolina artists and craftspeople who need immediate assistance.

Anyone who is interested in donating artwork or raffle items/baskets to the auction and raffle should contact:

They may also drop off donated artwork or raffle items/baskets in the Art Office, located in (147) Binns-Merrill Hall on the Alfred University campus, by noon Wednesday, Oct. 23 at noon.

People who are interested in attending the event are invited to visit Alfred University's Scholes Library between 11 am and 5pm Thursday, Oct. 24, and between 8:30 am and 3 pm Friday Oct. 25. Visitors may bid on individual items or purchase tickets for raffle items. Each ticket costs $1; 11 tickets for $10.

All proceeds from the auction and raffle will go to the Craft Emergency Relief Fund (CERF+), an organization committed to serving craft artists through emergency relief and recovery support. To learn more about CERF+ , visit cerfplus.org.

At the close of the auction, checks should be made out to the Craft Emergency Relief Fund. Proof of a direct online donation to CERF may also be presented.
