National Assembly Speaker Ana Brnabic Meets with Italian Chamber of Deputies Foreign Affairs Committee Delegation

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Ana Brnabic met today with the Chairman of the Committee on Foreign and EU Affairs of the Italian Chamber of Deputies Giulio Tremonti, to talk about the further improvement of parliamentary cooperation, which represents an important segment of bilateral relations.

The National Assembly Speaker pointed out that Serbia greatly appreciates Italy's support on the way to full EU membership and believes that a quicker the integration of the Western Balkans into the EU can contribute to the economic perspective and stability of both the region and Europe as a whole. She also said that the publication of the Growth Plan for the Western Balkans, which provides funds for the reform agenda of our region, is very significant and that it can bring new energy to the European integration process in our region.

Tremonti stressed that EU enlargement is important both for Serbia, and of the European Union for the purpose of overcoming a whole series of barriers. He said that Italy understands the relations in the Balkans, as well as the bilateral relations between Serbia and Italy comprehensively developed in all areas, at the level of strategic partnership.

Brnabic underlined that the economic cooperation between the two countries is good, with a large volume of exchange, that service trade is becoming more intense and that the number of Italian investments in Serbia is increasing.
