IFAD CONTRIBUTION ENHANCES RESILIENCE OF RURAL...

The Assistant Minister to the Office of the Prime Minister, Hon. Sakiusa Tubuna, held a bilateral meeting with Alvaro Lario, the President of the International Fund of Agricultural Development (IFAD) on the margins of the 79th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

In their discussions, Assistant Minister Tubuna acknowledged IFAD's substantial support through the current Joint Action Plan on Women, which aims to assist 2,000 women farmers in the highlands of Viti Levu.

Dr. Lario reassured IFAD's commitment to providing continued support through various initiatives.

IFAD's contributions to Fiji align closely with the government's policies on rural development, climate adaptation, and food security. Through collaborative efforts, they aim to enhance the resilience and livelihoods of rural communities, contributing to sustainable development in the country.
