Red River Parish Port site gets LED certified

RED RIVER PARISH, LA. - The Red River Parish Port Commission proudly announces that the Red River Parish Port site has been awarded the prestigious LED Certified Industrial Site designation by Louisiana Economic Development (LED). This recognition underscores the site's readiness for industrial development, meeting rigorous criteria set forth by LED's Certified Sites Program.

Located at Hwy 1 and Riverport Drive within Red River Parish just south of Coushatta, LA, this 75.8-acre property has successfully fulfilled all requirements outlined in the program. North Louisiana Economic Partnership (NLEP) oversaw the thorough due diligence conducted on the site, ensuring compliance with legal controls, zoning regulations, surveys, title work, environmental studies, soil analysis, and public infrastructure engineering.

"The certification of the Red River Parish Port site as an LED Certified Industrial Site marks a significant milestone for our region," said Justyn Dixon, NLEP, President and CEO. "This designation validates our commitment to providing prime locations for industrial growth and development in Red River Parish and throughout our region."

Certification included a meticulous review process by LED and CSRS, an independent third-party engineering firm, to confirm the site's readiness for immediate industrial development. Notably, all LED Certified Sites undergo a straightforward recertification every five years, ensuring ongoing suitability for prospective investors and developers.

"We congratulate Red River Parish and our partners at NLEP for securing the parish's first certified site and look forward to seeing it add to the strength of the Northwest Region," LED Chief Economic Competitiveness Officer Ileana Ledet said. "LED Certified Sites have already completed a rigorous assessment process, so that when a company considers them for investment, the detailed homework has already been done. These sites expedite development and minimize risk, saving companies time and money, and growing Louisiana's economy more quickly."

Situated approximately 39 miles southeast of Shreveport and approximately 20 miles northwest of Natchitoches, the site offers strategic proximity to major population hubs within the state. Its location is approximately nine road miles northeast of Interstate 49 and 54 road miles southeast of Interstate 20 permits access to key transportation routes. The site features 3,400 feet of rail frontage along the western boundary and access to the Red River Parish Port assets, an ideal solution for end users requiring multimodal logistics capabilities.

"The LED Certified Industrial Site certification amplifies the site's competitiveness. In addition to lying adjacent to a Class I rail carrier and an inland port connected to the largest waterway system in the U.S., the site's due diligence reduces the risk an industrial end-user faces and provides them with the knowledge to begin their operations faster. We appreciate the support from our economic development partners on this initiative and look forward to continued collaboration," said Stuart Shaw, Red River Parish Port Commission, President.

Special thanks to American Electric Power - Southwestern Electric Power Company, CSRS, and all partners for their continued support and efforts throughout this process.
