Woman Arrested For Indictment Following Overdose Of 1 Year Old Niece

Outstanding coordination between Youth Services Division detectives and the U.S. Marshal's Task Force led to the arrest of Tawona Pickens-Johnson, 46, in Tallahassee, Florida, on an outstanding indictment for the March 2023 fatal fentanyl overdose of her one-year-old niece, Ivery Holmes.
Holmes was found on March 7th at their Herman Street home unconscious. She was removed from life support at the hospital on March 19th.
Further investigation by Youth Services detectives revealed Holmes was exposed to fentanyl while in the care of Pickens-Johnson.
Pickens-Johnson was indicted on one count of criminally negligent homicide and two counts of aggravated child neglect.
She will be returned to Nashville soon.
