Backup your DigitalOcean Kubernetes Data in One Click

At DigitalOcean, we put simplicity first so our community of builders and businesses can spend more time building apps and less time dealing with infrastructure.

Today, we're excited to announce the GA launch of our Agent for DigitalOcean managed Kubernetes backups through SnapShooter (a DigitalOcean solution) making it easier to create and manage backups of databases in your DigitalOcean Kubernetes (DOKS).

This Agent-based solution will better serve our customers who have found setting up a DOKS cluster difficult or have had issues with backup reliability. As we introduce this new Agent, we've deprecated support for Velero through SnapShooter, and have altered backup processes to focus on backing up your databases on DOKS.

This new feature allows users to install the Agent into the namespace and container of their choice in one click, and will be available for setup and managing backup jobs almost immediately. As with our other backups available through SnapShooter, users are able to determine the backup frequency, retention policies, and storage location simply and easily.

SnapShooter charges a management fee based on the number of backup jobs you run. SnapShooter offers various plans, with Kubernetes backup supported across all tiers. For instance, if you're on the Startup tier, you can run 20 backup jobs. Creating just one backup job for a DOKS cluster will be a single backup, leaving 19 backup jobs in your quota. In essence, SnapShooter's pricing for backup remains consistent regardless of the job type.

Please remember you will be billed separately for volume snapshots and backup storage (if you choose to bring your own).

SnapShooter is accessible via either the DigitalOcean Marketplace or through our SnapShooter webpage, where users can easily connect their DigitalOcean accounts with their SnapShooter accounts.
