ICYMI: Grassley Joins Fox Business to Talk Secret Service Oversight

WASHINGTON - Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) today on Fox Business' Cavuto: Coast to Coast called for the Secret Service to be transparent and take accountability for its failures following the attempted assassination of former President Trump. Grassley questioned the Secret Service's Acting Director at a Senate hearing yesterday and has released a trove of records as part of his ongoing Secret Service oversight.

Reaction to Secret Service, FBI Senate Testimony:

"You've got a lot of finger-pointing that ought to end. [The] 'he said, she said,' these sorts of things aren't very worthwhile to spend your time on. You've got to get to the bottom of it.

"The Secret Service is in charge. And I've been told, and now the public knows, that the Secret Service was not keeping in touch with local law enforcement, and they were…leaving certain responsibilities to local law enforcement without even communicating with local law enforcement."

Next Steps for Secret Service, FBI:

"I've made this all very clear about the reluctance of the federal government to be transparent… I got video from local law enforcement before the FBI got it, and within a short period of time I made it available to the entire public. The entire public's got all the information that I have, and I think that's more than what the FBI and the Secret Service has put out.

"I believe in transparency in government, because without transparency, you don't get accountability. And the public's business ought to be public."
