Potato Market Update 28th August

Retail demand and consumption is improving this week and should continue to do so upon the return of schools this week following the summer break. New season Rooster continues to come onto the market as it is fit. There are reports that's yields of later planted crops could be quite variable, especially those planted with home saved seed.

In the U.K. high tuber numbers on many crops are restricting the development of bold tubers. Growers are often having to irrigate to lift. Irrigating before burn down has also been necessary to reduce D.M. levels. Quality issues including bruising are more common recently, often on M.Piper and Whites and has led to rejection.
