State Police Investigate Drowning Incident in Redwood

On June 29, 2024, at about 3:35 a.m. State Police responded to 28786 Butterfield Lake Rd in the town of Alexandria for a report of a water rescue.

When patrols arrived, they found 23-year-old Alexzander D. Roberts, from La Fargeville, receiving life-saving measures from members of TIERS (Thousand Island Emergency Rescue Service). Roberts was transported by TIERS to River Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

The preliminary investigation has determined that Roberts drove a 2024 Jeep Compass into Butterfield Lake at the State boat launch and drowned. An autopsy is scheduled to determine an official cause of death.

The investigation is continuing.
