On the evening of Tuesday, November 12, 2024, following an indictment by a Multnomah County Grand Jury, Richard A. Epton, 61, of Portland, turned himself in to authorities. Epton was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center on the following charges: Manslaughter in the First Degree, Failure to Perform the Duties of a Driver, DUII, and Tampering with Physical Evidence.

A pedestrian is deceased following a crash in the Madison South Neighborhood.
On Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at approximately 2:30 a.m., officers responded to reports of a woman lying in the road near Northeast 85th Avenue and Northeast Fremont Street. When they arrived, officers found an adult female deceased from injuries consistent with being struck by a vehicle that was no longer in the area.
The Portland Police Bureau's Major Crash Team is responding to the scene to investigate this hit-and-run crash. During the investigation, Northeast Fremont Street will be shut down between Northeast Fremont Drive and Northeast 87th Avenue.
