Uría Menéndez named Law Firm of the Year at the Expansión Jurídico Awards for the eighth consecutive year

Last night Uría Menéndez received the Law Firm of the Year award, for the eighth consecutive year, at the ninth edition of the Expansión Jurídico Awards. This award is recognition from our competitors and clients of our work over the past year. Uría Menéndez ] also won the awards for Best Banking Law Firm, Best Real Estate Law Firm and Best Pro Bono Initiative.

Jesús Remón collected the award from Marco Pompignoli, Chairman of Unidad Editorial, at an event attended by over 500 professionals from the legal sector. Also witnessing the ceremony were the members of the awards jury, which is made up of the heads of the legal departments of Spain's leading companies.

The evening began with the awards for specific sectors, with Uría Menéndez winning Best Banking Law Firm, which was presented to Antonio Herrera by Jaime Pérez Renovales, General Secretary and Secretary of the Board of Banco Santander; and Best Real Estate Law Firm, which was presented to Rafael Jiménez by Cristina Andrés, Director of Corporate Development at IE Law School.

Later, and for the second consecutive year, Uría Menéndez received the award for Best Pro Bono Initiative for a case in which a team of 17 of our lawyers, led by José Alberto Navarro, worked to protect the lives of Afghan nationals and their families who worked with the Spanish authorities and armed forces in Afghanistan. Belén Adell, an associate of the firm and volunteer with the Professor Uría Foundation, collected the award from Manuel del Pozo, Deputy Director of Expansión.

Accepting the award for Law Firm of the Year, Jesús Remón acknowledged how proud Uría Menéndez is to receive the award in such a competitive and demanding sector. He also praised the role of Expansión and its "Jurídico" section as a hub for legal information in Spain, thanked the firm's clients for their trust, and highlighted the fabulous work of everyone at Uría Menéndez - both lawyers and non-lawyers - without whom the firm would not have managed to secure this award year after year.

The firm was also a finalist in the categories for Best Digital Economy Law Firm, Best Legal Representation in Administrative Litigation and Best Diversity and Inclusion Programme.
