Women in Digital Scoreboard 2024

The 'Women in Digital Scoreboard' evaluates the inclusion of women in digital jobs, careers, and entrepreneurship.

The lack of girls and women in digital is a missed opportunity. It both slows down societal progress towards a fairer and more inclusive digital world, and holds back economic growth in the Union.

Europe has committed to Digital Decade Policy Programme targets, to employ at least 20 million Information and Communication technology (ICT) specialists in the EU by 2030 while promoting women's access to the field.

Given this background, it is important to have systematic measurements to track Europe's progress in closing the digital gender gap. The Women in Digital Scoreboard serves as a tool for this purpose.

Formerly part of the Digital Economy and Society Index, the Scoreboard evaluates how well girls and women are included in digital jobs, careers, and entrepreneurship. It assesses Member States along three dimensions - (i) use of internet, (ii) internet user skills and (iii) specialist skills and employment - based on 13 indicators.

This updated 2024 version of the 'Women in Digital Scoreboard', is based on Eurostat data from previous years. You can find the previous versions on the main Women in Digital page.

The 'Women in Digital Scoreboard 2024' consists of three documents (downloadable below):

  • a PDF file with the 2024 scoreboard results as country profiles;
  • a PDF file with details of the methodology used;
  • an Excel file with the detailed EUROSTAT data used and calculations.

This data is produced to the best of our ability, but should be read alongside the DESI indicators (revised in 2023) and the State of the Digital Decade reports (2023 and 2024). The national Digital Decade strategic roadmaps present actions by the Member States to achieve the Digital Decade targets - on ICT careers, connectivity, businesses, and the public sector, including progress on gender convergence in ICT.
