The City of Boise is excited to announce the formation of the Boise Community Climate Action Committee and invites residents who care about our community and want to help create a cleaner, healthier Boise for future generations to apply. This committee will play a key role in shaping Boise's Community Climate Action Guide - a resource created for Boise, by Boiseans, ensuring that our community's actions reflect the voices, priorities, and values of our residents.
Members of the committee will collaborate with city staff and the community to share ideas, provide feedback, and ensure our community's climate actions illustrate what matters most to Boise's residents. This is a community-driven effort to tackle the impacts of climate change and empower residents with information, resources, and ways to get involved.
"Boise is at its best when we come together, creating a shared vision for the future," said Mayor Lauren McLean. "This committee will help ensure that Boise's climate actions reflect the ideas and priorities of our residents so that our city is prepared and resilient in the face of the impact of climate change."
Who Should Apply?
The City of Boise encourages Boise residents from diverse backgrounds, professions, and industries to apply. Whether you are deeply experienced in climate issues or simply passionate about making Boise a better place for future generations, we want to hear from you. The committee will be geographically representative of the city, ensuring input from across Boise's neighborhoods. The committee's commitment is for one year, with monthly meetings for one and half hours each. Committee members will also be encouraged to participate in community engagement events throughout the process.
Applications will open on December 2, 2024, and close on December 20, 2024. A selection committee will review applications, and the final committee of 20 members will be announced in late January 2025.
