Dr. Tamás Sulyok, the President of Hungary, as Commander-in-Chief of the Hungarian Defence Forces, accompanied by Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky, the Minister of Defence, and Colonel General Gábor Böröndi, the Chief of the Defence Staff, visited the technical demonstration and shooting drill of the 30th Kinizsi Pál Armoured Infantry Brigade of the Hungarian Defence Forces at the Nullpont firing range in Hajmáskér.

The aim of the event was to provide a comprehensive picture of the combat capabilities of the Defence Forces. Following the demonstration, the President of Hungary took part in small arms and mortar fire drills and tested the Lynx armoured infantry fighting vehicle.

"For me it was a very good and interesting experience." - said Dr. Tamás Sulyok, who added that the visit convinced him that the personnel of the Hungarian Defence Forces - both professional and reserve - are fully capable of handling the tasks currently expected of them by the country.
"I have seen that our servicepeople are doing their best, and they are doing it in a disciplined and cheerful manner," the Head of State stressed.

Prior to the military technology demonstration, the President of Hungary and the Chief of the Defence Staff visited Kossuth Barracks in Veszprém, where they met and had lunch with the members of the armed forces.

The programme included a visit to the Air Force Command Headquarters of the Hungarian Defence Forces, where Colonel Tamás Bardon presented the Air Operations Command and Control Centre, the so-called Szikla (Rock).

The Szikla used to be the safest place in the country, and at the end of World War II the Holy Crown with the sceptre, the orb, the sword and the Holy Right were kept here. The President of Hungary and the military leaders laid a wreath at the Holy Crown memorial.

It was exactly on this day fifty years ago that Dr. Tamás Sulyok was drafted to the Kalocsa Rifle Regiment to perform his military service.
