Grassley Calls for Answers on 'Communication Breakdown' Among Law Enforcement Leading Up to Trump Assassination Attempt

Fox News interviews Grassley ahead of Senate hearing with FBI, Secret Service

WASHINGTON - Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) today joined America's Newsroom to discuss his oversight of the security failures that led to the assassination attempt on former President Trump. The evidence Grassley has received and made public - law enforcement text messages, bodycam footage, briefing materials and an after-action report - provide the most detailed picture of the shooting at Trump's July 13 rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

"It's just bad when a member of Congress has to get his information from local law enforcement instead of from the federal agencies. [I've] turned over everything [I] have now, and if [I] get more, [I]'ll turn it over. I believe in transparency. The public's business ought to be public, and the protection of a presidential candidate ought to be a top priority," Grassley said.

Grassley underscored the need for his bipartisan PROTECT Act, which would subject Secret Service directors to Senate confirmation and a single, 10-year term. He additionally commented on so-called Supreme Court "reforms" the Biden-Harris administration unveiled yesterday, noting the framework constitutes blatant executive overreach into the independent judicial branch.
