22 Oct 2024

The Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) welcomes the 2023-24 annual report published today by the Process Review Panel (PRP) for the SFC (Note 1).

The panel presents its observations and recommendations in the report based on its comprehensive review of 60 cases (Note 2). These recommendations aim to help the SFC maximise its regulatory outcomes while maintaining fairness and orderliness in the financial market.

Ms Julia Leung, the SFC's Chief Executive Officer, is highly appreciative of the recommendations made by PRP members regarding the SFC's work processes. "Improving operational efficiency is a strategic priority for the SFC and critical to strengthening our institutional resilience," she said. "As a resilient SFC is key to empowering our capital markets, we will thoroughly consider these useful suggestions to further drive cross-divisional synergies and streamline operational workflows."

Notes:

  1. Established in November 2000 by Hong Kong's Chief Executive, the PRP is an independent panel responsible for reviewing the SFC's case handling. It also advises the SFC on the adequacy of its internal procedures and operational guidelines.
  2. Completed or discontinued cases.
